Description
The Swift metal mouse trap uses a powerful snap mechanism that stores energy in a tensioned spring, releasing when the trigger is disturbed and driving a kill bar across the striking plate. This all-metal construction uses galvanised steel throughout — no wood to absorb moisture or plastic to become brittle in cold. The metal base won't warp in damp locations, the spring maintains tension over time, and the galvanised coating prevents rust when used outdoors or in wet areas such as cellars and outbuildings.
The trigger mechanism uses a simple treadle plate positioned over the bait pedal. When a mouse climbs onto the plate to access bait, the pressure releases the spring and the kill bar snaps forward. The metal striking surface covers the full width of the base, leaving no gaps where a mouse might avoid contact.
To set the trap, pull the kill bar back past vertical until it locks behind the trigger plate. Apply a small amount of bait (peanut butter, chocolate spread or hazelnut paste work well) to the raised pedal. Position traps perpendicular to walls where you've seen droppings, with the trigger end facing the wall. Mice typically run along edges rather than crossing open floor areas, so wall placement intercepts their travel routes.
The all-metal design allows the trap to be cleaned and reused indefinitely. Rinse with hot water after each catch before resetting. For outdoor use where the trap may be exposed to weather continuously, the galvanised finish withstands years of rain and frost without degrading.
Key Features:
All-metal construction — galvanised steel base, spring and kill bar with no wood or plastic components
Weather-resistant finish — galvanised coating prevents rust in outdoor or damp locations
Reusable design — clean and reset indefinitely; metal construction outlasts plastic alternatives
Swift mechanism — traditional treadle trigger releases the spring-loaded kill bar when disturbed
