The pre-formed bait cup is what separates this from flat-platform traps. Peanut butter or soft cheese goes directly into the recessed cup rather than being smeared across a flat surface, positioning it over the trigger paddle. Mice have to reach into the cup to access the food, and that reach activates the trap. Flat designs let mice approach from angles that don't engage the trigger or lick bait from the edges. The cup eliminates those approaches.
Plastic construction gives you a trap that performs the same on the tenth catch as it did on the first.
