Description
Fruit flies gather around fermenting fruit and vegetables, attracted by the carbon dioxide and volatile compounds released during decay. These sticky pads provide a passive trapping surface near the source of infestation, capturing flies on contact as they move through the area. This kit includes two pads and two paper hangers so traps can be placed immediately where fruit flies are active.
The pads work through physical capture rather than chemical attraction. Fruit flies land on the adhesive surface while searching for food or breeding sites and become immobilised. The traps do not contain pheromones or attractants, so placement near fruit bowls, compost bins or waste areas is important. For best results, position traps within about one metre of the infestation source.
The paper hangers allow pads to be suspended at the height where fruit flies typically hover. In kitchens, fruit flies usually stay close to counter level rather than flying near ceilings. Hang pads from cupboard handles, hooks above fruit bowls or near compost containers. If hanging is not convenient, the pads can also be placed flat on nearby surfaces.
Replace pads when the sticky surface becomes covered with trapped flies or loses adhesion, typically after 2–4 weeks depending on infestation levels. The paper hangers can be reused — simply remove the used pad and insert a fresh one.
