Wasps are territorial and rarely build a new colony within sight of an existing nest. These decoys take advantage of that behaviour. Hang one before the season begins and scouting queens may interpret the area as already occupied and move on to search elsewhere.

Each decoy mimics the papier-mâché appearance of a typical wasp nest. When a queen encounters what appears to be an active rival colony near your eaves, pergola or outbuilding, she may avoid the location and continue looking for another nesting site. No chemicals, no bait and no maintenance. The effect relies entirely on natural wasp behaviour.

This pack contains two decoys, which helps when protecting more than one area or covering both sides of a structure. They work best when installed early in the season, before queens begin establishing new nests. Once a colony is already active nearby, the opportunity for prevention is largely gone.

Hang the decoys where they are clearly visible, such as under eaves, in open sheds or garages, near outdoor dining areas or close to loft entrances. Aim for head height or above and position them so they can be seen from approaching flight paths.

The territorial behaviour used here applies to social wasps and hornets. Solitary bees and bumblebees do not consider nearby nests when selecting a site, so these decoys are not intended to affect those species.
