Description
Bird spikes stop pigeons from landing and prevent cats from using fence tops and ledges as climbing routes. They work by removing the flat surface birds need to land and the stable footing cats need to walk along. Instead of providing a usable perch or pathway, the spikes turn ledges, fence tops and roof edges into surfaces animals simply cannot use.
Pigeons and gulls return to the same ledges, fence posts and roof edges day after day. Once a roosting spot becomes established it usually stays that way, with the same birds returning to the same surfaces. By making those areas physically unusable, birds move elsewhere and cats stop using the route.
Each strip measures 43cm long and 9cm wide, made from UV-resistant polycarbonate that flexes enough to follow curved surfaces without cracking. The spikes are closely spaced so birds cannot land across the width of the strip. The base is pre-drilled for screws and can also be fixed using adhesive or cable ties depending on the surface. No specialist installation required.
The black finish suits dark-painted timber, black metal railings, flat roof edges, cast-iron guttering and other surfaces where a contrasting colour would stand out. It can also act as a visible signal. On boundary fences and gates, black spikes are easy for cats and larger animals to notice and avoid from a distance.
Placement tips: Fix strips end-to-end along fence tops, ledge edges, window sills and roof lines, leaving no gaps where birds can find an unprotected foothold. On wider surfaces, install two rows slightly offset so the coverage overlaps.
