Mastertrap Copper Foil Tape for Repelling Slugs Snails 10mm

Slugs and snails move by producing a layer of mucus beneath their bodies. When that mucus contacts copper, a mild galvanic reaction creates an unpleasant sensation that discourages them from crossing the surface. This 10mm self-adhesive copper tape creates an effective barrier for protecting raised beds, greenhouse benches and larger containers.

The wider profile makes it harder for medium-sized slugs to arch their bodies over the barrier compared with narrower tapes. The copper foil conducts on both sides, so slugs encounter the same deterrent regardless of whether they approach from above or below.

The adhesive backing bonds securely to clean, dry surfaces including timber, plastic, metal and painted wood. Once installed, the copper remains effective outdoors and will gradually develop a darker patina without reducing the deterrent effect.

This width provides a balanced option between visibility and effectiveness. It is wide enough to deter most garden slugs while remaining discreet on raised bed edges, staging or greenhouse structures. For small decorative containers, the 5mm tape offers a subtler barrier, while the 20mm tape provides maximum coverage for heavy infestations.

Apply the tape along the top edge of raised bed walls, greenhouse staging or cold frame bases. Clean surfaces first with methylated spirit or similar to ensure strong adhesion.
