Description

Cedar wood contains natural volatile oils that moths find unpleasant. The scent helps mask the attractant odours of wool, silk and other natural fibres that draw moths to fabric in the first place. These solid cedar rings slip over the hooks of existing hangers, positioning the repellent directly among hanging garments.

Cedar works best as a preventive deterrent in clean storage areas, rather than as a treatment for active infestations. If moths or larvae are already present, pheromone traps provide a more direct way to monitor and reduce the population.

Each ring is turned from 100% pure aromatic cedar with no additives or chemical treatments. The central hole fits standard hanger hooks — simply slide the ring onto the hook before hanging the garment so the ring rests on the hanger bar. This places the cedar directly among stored clothing where its scent can disperse through the surrounding fabrics.

The natural oils slowly release the familiar cedar fragrance over time. Cedar wood also absorbs small amounts of excess moisture, helping maintain dry conditions that discourage musty odours in wardrobes and enclosed storage spaces.

The ring format is ideal for hanging storage, where protection is needed around individual garments. Use one ring per valuable item such as suits, coats or wool dresses, or distribute rings across several hangers within a wardrobe section. For drawers or storage boxes where garments are not hung, cedar balls offer more flexible placement. Both formats use the same aromatic cedar and provide similar deterrent properties — the choice simply depends on your storage method.

The cedar scent gradually fades after around 6–12 months, depending on airflow. When the fragrance becomes faint, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper to expose fresh wood and restore the scent. This refreshing process can be repeated several times before the rings lose effectiveness.

For best results, use cedar as part of a layered storage routine. Clean garments thoroughly before storage, as moth larvae are attracted to food stains and skin oils as well as natural fibres. Pheromone traps can be used to monitor for moth activity, while refreshed cedar helps discourage egg-laying in wardrobes.
